Canon PowerShot SD4000IS 10 MP Good Deals Reviewed by Peeeeter (USA)
S4000 came two weeks before, I had the SD1200. I waited for the SD4000 and SD1200 planned to return. How does it compare? First professionals:
- SD4000 is very sharp angle from the center toward the edges (much better than SD1200 and SD850)
- ISO400 and 800 are very good (improvement over the SD1200 and more compact)
- Nice screen
Now the drawbacks:
- 3.8 x Zoom, image quality is very soft. Or in other words: do not cut. For the record, I've cut up to 100% or to see a comparison side-by-side. And I'm not talking about a digital zoom. Just look at the photo left me baffled: soft, fuzzy, not sharp , horrible. I have increased sharpness in the camera, but was not enough. It 'was really ugly.
- It's not as compact as you like (rather long and that the SD1200 is much more compact)
- If the other reviewers mentioned, the buttons and menus navigating many cumbersome steps (with a small dial, super-sensitive).
Since the images were completely useless to 3.8x was a definite no-go. To my surprise, I held the SD1200, but I miss the wide angle lens and high ISO quality of the SD4000. Maybe it was a bad copy? Note: There is another post here that some softness, he complains, does not appear to be unique.
I'll try later, another copy, if the price fell, and Canon has more experience with it.
Bottom line: I give one star, because the car was simply unusable. As already mentioned, other features have been very good, but return with a camera is no longer worth as a star in my opinion. It 's the first time that I turn a camera (and I'm 6! 2SLRs, a 12x zoom, 3 tablet).
